Family

man John Vampage‏‎ 1) 2)

Notes: Of Pershore.

The Vampage and Russell families were closely linked - both from kinship and political perspectives, in their opposition to the Earl of Warwick. Both families profited from the Earl's fall and took full advantage of any consequential opportunities to enrich themselves,

John's ancestry is unclear - the Worcestershire visitation has multiple generations of John Vampage and suriving documents make it difficult to assign dates and daughters. Given the chronology, John cannot be of a more recent generation than the John Vampage who married an unnamed daughter of Norman Washborne.

Married 3)
to:

woman Unknown - Not Catherine Wollashull‏‎

Notes: According to Visitations, John Vampage was married to Catherine Wollashull, daughter and heiress of her father Wollashull. That cannot be the case. Wollashull was still held by William Wollashull (c1370 - 1453) MP whose daughter married one John Vampage. From a chronological perspective, this John Vampage is over a century too early to be the John who married Catherine.(1) It seems the visitations must have conflated two distinct John Vampages.

No evidence has been found for who John's wife actually was.

(1) Catherine was probably also called Joan - "A. 6164. Grant by John Vampage, esquire, and Joan his wife, daughter and heiress of William Wulleshill, esquire,"; in the Exchequer Treasury Receipts for the 1456.
