Notes: The Gloucestershire visitation identifies William's wife as Margaret Corbet (daughter of Walter Corbet). That identification is incorrect - Margaret Corbet was Gilbert Denys's first wife.

Even the identification of William as Gilbert's father is somewhat unclear and unsupported by any yet observed primary evidence.
