Probate: ‎1672 2)

Notes: Possibly. There is an Administration Bond for a John Archard of Crudwell in 1672 that names his son John. Insufficiently clear if that relates to this individual.

Either way, John's father was probably John Archard, the son of another John. His mother (or possibly grandmother) was Joyce. It is very difficult to trace this line accurately for many more generations given the difficulty of distinguishing between multiple John Archards living concurrently.

Six children are identified in Mary's will: John, Giles, William, Margaret, Mary, and Elizabeth. Mary was married to Thomas Ludlow, Margaret to X Bayly, and Elizabeth to Y Looker. Mary also had a grandaughter - Mary Browninge.

Various additional children, baptised at Evesham have been added - on the basis of dates, and recurrence of the uncommon name Joyce.

A John Archard alias Hay held land at Malmesbury, per the Wiltshire Freeholders' book 1637.

Notes: John's inventory is an interesting read. In addition to typical household goods there appear significant quantities of bacon, corn, oats, ten cows, six heifers and a bull, five yeeklings, six horses, four score and fourteen sheep, six pigs, sown wheat, hay, 36 acres of fallow land, 14 acres of sown pulses.

John's identity as father of John is confirmed by his son being referred to as "John Hay Junr".
