Family
Robert Raynor 1) Notes: According to a local history in Latin, called the "Stemmata Cantiana" or "Kentish Family Scroll", Robert Raynor was born in the hamlet of Doddington in the Maidstone District of Kent, England. Reports of his birth year vary from about 1555 to about 1575 and are based on his daughter's estimated birth in 1500. He likely was the son of Richard Raynor, himself a younger son of substantial local landowner, Thomas Raynor whose 1484 Will included the bequest of "Bamletts farm" to his son Richard, where it is known that Marjorie grew up. The Raynor family were local Kent yeomen (independent landowners) and lived in the parishes of Doddington, Lenham, Milton and Kingsdown, all south-east of Maidstone, Kent. The family probably descended from one Elias Raynor who was the Escheator (a medieval judicial official) of Kent in 1384. He and his son Nicholas Raynor owned lands at Milton in the 14th-15th Centuries. Married/ Related to: N.N. Child: |
