Notes: The first William to have the nickname Taillefer - William was Count from 926 and 945. His nickname supposedly derived "...from the way in which he cut down a Norman Sea-king through his coat of mail". He did not immediately succeed his father, Aymer I, son of Emenon (Count before the appointment of Vulgrin by Charles in 866) was Count for ten years from 816 - 826.
