Family
Otto II of Germany, Holy Roman Emperor 1) Married after 968 4) (at most 15 years married) to: Theophanu of Constantinople 1) Born ± 955 Based on her marriage c968AD. Died 15 Jun 990 Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands, approximately 35 years 5) Notes: Theophano's parentage is uncertain. She was possibly the daughter of Konstantinos Skleros and Sophia Phokaina. Thietmar describes her as a niece of the emperor - who can separately be ascertained to probably be Emperor John I Tzimiskes. Simplifying; various contemporary remarks on her suitability (or lack of, specifically) to be Otto's bride, suggest she was of a noble family, and of the emperor's blood, but not the child of an emperor.
