Uncertain 1) Notes: History of Parliament identifies William's mother as Elizabeth, John's second wife. Her will describes William as her son. On the other hand, if William were a son of John's first wife Joan de Cherleton (daughter of John de Cherleton) then claims of kinship between Richard Beauchamp, Bishop of Salsibury, and Edward IV can actually be explained. While the latter solution is probably likelier, it has not been included here, for the moment. There are gaps in Richard's Beauchamps known ancestry which might explain the claims of kinship.
