While there were multiple Williams born in that year to different parents, Edward's will helpful mentions his grandaughter Hannah and her husband Nathaniel Overbury. William Parker clandestinely married in1696 however his first wife died on 18 April 1701. He also buried his child one week later on 25 April 1701. He then went on to marry Lydiah Browning in 1704. By clandestine marriage, it is possible that William Parker married in a neighbouring parish, that he was married by a non-parish priest or that he was simply married in a common law ceremony with an exchange of vows. Alternatively he may have wished to evade Marriage Duty introduced by the Marriage Duty Act of 1695. Following the death of his first wife in 1701 and his first child shortly thereafter, William re-married Lydia Browning in 1704 at Tetbury. In 1722 he received "one shilling and half my wearing apparel" from his father after he passed away. He then appears, aged 60 on the Tetbury Religious Affiliation Census of 31st December 1735 where he was recorded as living with his wife Lydia and daughters Ann and Elizabeth. "William 60, his wife Lydia 65, and his two children Ann 24 and Elizabeth 23" He also appears on page 4 of the Court Leet Roll in 1735. 2.
