Shield Daily News for April 13 1885: "SAD ACCIDENT AT EYEMOUTH, THREE MEN DROWNED. The boat Welfare, in making for Eyemouth Harbour Friday night, missed stays and went ashore amongst amongst the rocks and became a total wreck. Four of the crew were landed the rocket apparatus, but three were washed and drowned. "
Aberdeen's People Journey for 18 April 1885: "The remaining three were drowned. The lifeboat was also manned, but was too late to be of service. The names of the men drowned are Alexander Anderson. John Jameson, and John Anderson. The latter two leave large families. The names of saved are William Maltman, William Anderson, James t'oHin, and George Todd. "
