Family

woman Joan Greyndour‏‎ 1) 2)

Notes: Joan Greyndour was the sister or half-sister of Robert Greyndour who married Jane Barre. Eventually Joan became heiress to the Grenydour estates initially held by Robert Greyndour's descendants.

Joan remarried to William Lichfield following William's death.

Married/ Related
to:

man William Walweyn‏‎

Notes: Of Bickerton.

This William Walweyn is not the same individual as the William Walweyn of Longford who married Jane Whitney. This is best evidenced by the descent of Longford manor - which was to be inherited by the heirs of William and Joan (CP 25/1/83/56) - and went to John Walweyn of Longford, as opposed to Alice - the heir to this William and Joan.

Child:

1.
man William Walweyn‏ 3) 1)
Died ‎± 1471 4)
Will signed: ‎23 Nov 1471 4)

Notes: William held land at Rewardyn, Bicknor (/Bickerton) and Hathaways, Herefordshire, per his IPM dated 1471 (C 140/37/26). Alice his only daughter succeeded him.

Bicknor seems to have been purchased in 1441 from Nicholas Waterfall [Gloucestershire Archives - D2244/133].

The 1623 Gloucestershire visitation is unreliable for the Walweyn family: William is identified as Thomas and there are obvious mistakes. Similarly in the Baynham pedigree, William is identified as Thomas though there is a note caveatting that it might be William of Bickerton.

William's mother was a member of the Greyndour family based on his inheritance of the manor of Clearwell in Newland and Jane Barre's IPM.
