This Elizabeth was born circa 1357 per IPM If we assume Elizabeth was the daughter of John Bluet then it must be assumed James was her second husband and that she had children relatively late (say late thirties). While that cannot be refuted, it is equally possible that the Elizabeth who married James de Berkeley was John's granddaughter - i.e. a daughter of Elizabeth and Bartholomew. The former construction has been shown here (in accordance with most secondary sources) but, on the balance of probabilities, the evidence for both constructions is equally strong. | |||
